A new editor!

Having stood at the helm of Medieval Warfare for the best part of a year, Erin van der Pijl recently decided to focus on her studies and hand the magazine over to a successor. Obviously I cannot but respect that decision. I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Erin for her hard work in taking over Medieval Warfare at very short notice last Summer and her efforts at trying to improve the contents and quality of the magazine over the past months. I wish her the very best of luck in her future endeavours.

Today I can also announce that we have found a successor, a man we believe is right for this job. Peter Konieczny, who’ll introduce himself shortly on this very blog, is a medievalist with an extensive network among medieval military historians, not a shabby amount of knowledge at his disposal, and with a wealth of experience getting medieval history across to a larger audience. We are confident that Peter’s passion for the subject and his abilities in the field will carry Medieval Warfare magazine to new heights. On behalf of Karwansaray Publishers I’d like to wish him the best of success with Medieval Warfare and I hope you’ll enjoy the magazine under his stewardship for a very long time to come.

In order to help Peter ease into the job, Medieval Warfare issue VI-3 (Byzantine-Sassanid wars) will be handled by Josho Brouwers, the editor of Ancient Warfare. He will also take care of issue VI-4 (Norman invasion of Ireland) with the help of Owen Rees, who is a regular contributor to both Ancient Warfare and Medieval Warfare and who will serve as guest editor for that issue. Naturally, Peter will read the articles for these issues while he’s getting used to how things work around here. From issue VI-5 (knightly orders) onwards, Peter will be completely in control. I think you’ll be in for a treat!
