In 2008 and 2009, Stef Verstraaten photographed hundreds of reenactors, who, as part of the yearly Gebroeders van Limburg festival in Nijmegen, brought the late Medieval period to life. Working in a specially built mobile photo studio, he recorded the festival's participants in a very 21st century fashion: one by one, they each posed for his camera, bringing their animals and equipment with them. The results are amazing. The reenactors turned the studio into a time machine. The talent and efforts of Stef Verstraaten did the rest. Rich man - Poor man takes readers back to the 15th century, letting them meet some of the characters from this extreme period. This book provides not only a glimpse of our European ancestors, but also serves as a tribute to the numerous modern people who are so committed to experiencing and presenting this history. In addition to the spectacular photography, the book also includes an essay about Medieval reenactment and a short description of each image.
