Hello,

I have been regularly reading Medieval Warfare for a couple months now, and I just wanted to take some time to write a review as I have been blown away by the content I am privy to every month.

Being a huge history buff and going to university to continue my studies in the field I just wanted to say that I find your magazine a very refreshing take on the various subjects that are discussed. Not only are the articles easy to understand but the artwork that accompanies them is exceptional. In this latest issue, I particularity liked the article 'The mutilated, lame and blind' we far to often seem to always have a Hollywood idea about medieval warfare and it being so courageous and heroic. It was interesting to read about the true facts that took place, and the effects they had when the battle was over.

I just wanted to say thank you for your hard work and as always, I'm looking forward to my next issue.

I've been reading MW for a year or so, buying the issues from my local newstand. I recently decided to take the plunge and ordered the back issues I was missing and started a subscription. This is actually now the only magazine I actually subscribe to.

This issue is themed around the Albigensian Crusade and the Cathars. The overview article was very solid, even for someone who has read several books on the period. I particularly enjoyed the article on the Battle of Muret - a good discussion of the tactics and overall result of the battle.

I also enjoyed the article on the Hungarian invasion of Italy. I must admit that this was a campaign I was totally unaware of. One of the reasons I like this magazine is that there is always something in every issue that I don't know anything about even though I consider myself fairly well read on Medieval history.

Keep up the great work.

I have been a subscriber since the third year. I have gone back and bought almost all the back issues. This is a great issue, it covers an important period in medieval history. Has the artwork from specially comissioned artists (just like all the others!) and good maps. One of the amazing features of this publication is that it not only covers a central topic, but also has sections on a castle, a special topic (this time it is wounded soldiers) and a weapon. I have been a subscriber from the start. Every issue is filled with interesting articles.

One would expect just articles on the warfare, but no also other aspects are adressed (medical care of wounded, psychological effects, warriors with amputated limbs and how they returned to fight or live other lives).

All issues are themed around a certain event or time period and use unique art to the issue to illustrate how a certain moment in the battle or before it would have looked. All characters wear historically accurate equipment. The art is always something I look forward too!

The one portrayed above was about the crusade against the Cathars in France. It explains the situation, why the crusade was called and its effects on the location. It features a lot of pictures of castles (bastions of both sides) and features beautiful art of the siege of one of the major cities. Great read and amazing art of the warriors in this time period.

A final point, the editor is not affraid to admit mistakes often raised trough letters or emails. He admits them and corrects them the next issue. Its a kind of honesty you don't often see!

9/10 Very interesting for someone interested in the Medieval period and a definate must have for the medieval warfare enthousiast!
