MW Specials: Digital Editions

You can now get digital versions of the Medieval Warfare magazine Special Editions! Over the last few years we have created Special Editions of the magazine that focus on key moments from the Middle Ages.

Much larger than our typical issues, they allow us to provide an even more in-depth examination of the medieval past. The issues are:

The Battle of Hastings in 1066

The 2017 special issue of Medieval Warfare takes a look at one of the most famous battles in the history of the British Isles. Our detailed analysis of the Battle of Hastings by expert writers and medievalists not only looks at the engagement itself, but examines the leaders, their armies, the immediate aftermath, and the broader effect on history and popular imagination.

The Battle of Agincourt in 1415

The 2015 Medieval Warfare Special issue will be entirely dedicated - all 84 pages - to the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. Led by historian Anne Curry, the authors of this issue cover topics such as Henry V as military commander, recruitment and organisation of the English and French armies, the aftermath of the battle, and Shakespeare and the myth of Agincourt.

The Conquest of Constantinople in 1453

Our first special edition is entirely focused on the final siege and conquest of the capital of the Byzantine Empire. It includes profiles of the leaders - Mehmed ‘the Conqueror’ and Constantine XI - their armies, the siege itself, and contemporary reactions to the fall of Constantinople.
