Unboxing 'The Good, the Bad and the Mutie.'

Warlord Games have released The Good, the Bad and the Mutie the starter set for their new Strontium Dog game. There will be a full review of the game in the next issue.
The Strontium Dog game is set in the 2000AD universe, where bounty hunters battle it out with outlaws and mutants in a Sci-Fi version of the Old West. Johnny Alpha and Wulf Sternhammer are the two main protagonists in the story, along with their faithful alien companion and medic, the Gronk.
The starter set comes with rulebook, scenario book, special dice, eight miniatures, special cards, tokens for both sides and a complete scenery set from Sarissa Precision. All this for £50, which is good value.
The books are a beauty to behold, combining the 2000AD artwork with miniatures from the game. The rules are well laid out and easy to follow.
The miniatures are really well detailed. They really look like their comic book counterparts. Size wise, they are 30mm 'foot to eye' (Johnny Alpha is 28mm 'foot to eye'), so should be compatible with most Sci-Fi ranges.
The game also comes with two sets of markers, one red and one black, for each side. The Sarissa buildings give you some useful terrain for your games.
And what of the game itself? For the full rundown, you'll have to read the next edition of Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy (WS&S 98, War of the Roses). However, I think I can reveal we had great fun playing Strontium Dog.
