What's your medieval hobby?
Last time I wrote about a reader's medieval castle hobby getting out of hand and it struck a chord with many of you. So I'm curious: what's your medieval hobby and where did it lead you?
I ask because I have friends who turned their tabletop gaming hobby into professional board game development, students who took up archery and ending up competing, colleagues who now produce professional podcasts on their favourite medieval topics, and many more. In doing so, they turned a personal, often quite individual, hobby into something that enriched the lives of other people and expanded the community of medieval enthusiasts.
Medieval World: Culture & Conflict is already a community, of course, but I'd love to strengthen by offering you a place to share your projects and stories. It might be something others can participate in, like last week, a business they can support, or just an anecdote that they can appreciate. Maybe you have a medieval book club, a choir, a re-enactment society, or a small crafting business. I mean this as more than an opportunity to promote a business because sharing these stories with the wider community is a lovely reminder of how many people share our love for the medieval past and the many, many fascinating places that enthusiasm can lead us.
We're more than a magazine – let's not forget that! So leave a comment below, or on the social media channel where you see this, and share your medieval hobbies.
Until next time,
Rhiannon
