Podcast episode 150: Introducing Mail Armour with Bret Devereaux

In this episode, Murray and Jasper talk to Bret Devereaux (his blog is recommended) about the introduction of mail armour in the Roman army. Bret wrote his PhD thesis on the manpower and economic resources that the Roman state was able to marshal during the third and second centuries BC as an explanation for Rome's success in war. That includes the ability of the Roman army to equip its soldiers with relatively plentiful armour. Enjoy the podcast? Support us via Patreon, now with optional magazine subscription!
