Signing off

Hi all,

A few days ago, we sent the 2015 Medieval Warfare Special to the printers. It should arrive at our distribution center in about 2-3 weeks. As you’ll surely know by now, the 84-page Special focuses exclusively on the Battle of Agincourt, with expert contributors like Anne Curry, Tobias Capwell and Brian Todd Carey, to name but a few. I must say, I am very pleased with the result, and I’m pretty confident that our readers will feel the same.

However, that is not the reason for this blog. As some of you must have read, there are indeed some big changes ahead for Karwansaray Publishers, and I’m not just referring to our upcoming projects. As of the end of July, Medieval Warfare will have a brand new editor. I have been offered a new job elsewhere, and I will be leaving this company to pursue a new career elsewhere. I have been editor of Medieval Warfare for over five years (and working at the company for more than six), and the time has come for me to leave, and for the magazine to have an editor with the inspiring ideas and enthusiasm of someone new.

The new editor is Erin van der Pijl. Starting out as an intern at our company, she has been offered my position, and she has taken up her new job with great fervor and dedication. In fact, while I was busy finishing the Special and making sure that my responsibilities are handed over properly, she took MW V-4 out of my hands; as such, she is currently finishing her very first issue of Medieval Warfare. I’m sure that she will introduce herself properly soon, but for now, I would like to wish here all the best at her new job. I’m confident that she will take great care in handling her new responsibilities, not just copying what I did, but offering her own take on how the magazine should look like in the future.

I would hereby like to thank all our authors and illustrators for their contribution to our magazine. It is them who made Medieval Warfare as successful as it is today. It has been a great pleasure working with all of them. I’m surely going to miss cooperating on all those amazing projects yet to come.

I’d also like to thank you, our reader, for sticking with the magazine for so long, and for providing us with so many positive reviews and useful feedback (and for finding us in the first place, which is not always an easy task, as I’ve been told). I hope that you will continue to do so for years to come.
