Arnhem at...Arnhem

If you follow us on Social Media or listen to the WSS podcast, you may have heard about a game being organized at the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek, NL. Since we're now months down the road from the publication of the initial news and it's only about two months to go, it's time for an update.
So what are we doing? On October 1st and 2nd of this year, the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek will make its front room available for one display and three gaming tables. The 28mm-sized games will represent the fighting around the MDS crossroads, northern Oosterbeek, and the western perimeter around the Utrechtseweg and Sonnenberglaan. Hotel Hartenstein itself will be the center of the display table.
On these tables, we'll play various phases of the fight for the Oosterbeek perimeter using scenarios planned by Richard Clarke and Nick Skinner of TooFatLardies. Visitors will be welcome to join in and play a few rounds and help take decisions that shape the game. The museum will be open as normal for visitors, however, so wargamers should not expect to be able to hang around and play games all day.
From what I've seen so far, the tables will look utterly brilliant and some very recognizable historical buildings will be present in scaled flesh. I'm in awe of the enthusiasm and skill of Al, Ade, and Paul who are doing the lion's share of this work. I too hope to contribute a vignette or two, as is Nick, but if these tables look good (and they will), it'll be thanks to them.
So, if you'd like to see the some of the most impressive 'Battle of Arnhem' wargaming tables ever in the area where this all took place, and in a cool museum, save the date and drop by in Oosterbeek!

Looks fantastic. Was I the only one to read MDS crossroads as MDF crossroads?
